In the heart of Nashville, the Symphony Center tells a story inspired by a man, Kenneth Schermerhorn, who not only orchestrated the talented, but together with Martha Ingram, led an incredible community to support the arts. The award-winning Nashville Symphony is regarded as one of the nation's most creative and innovative orchestras. With more than 140 performances annually, the 83-member Nashville Symphony is Tennessee's preeminent cultural institution, offering a range of classical, pops and jazz concerts; special events; children's concerts; and education and community engagement programs.

The design of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center is inspired by Nashville's tradition of Neo-Classical architecture, yet updated with contemporary details. This new cultural center in downtown Nashville has had a significant artistic, social and economic impact on the city and has given the Nashville Symphony a venue equal to its growing reputation and superb music-making. The acoustical design also features an automated system of moveable banners and panels distributed around the Laura Turner Concert Hall. This system can fine-tune the acoustics for pops, cabaret, jazz, country, blues and other forms of music, giving the hall a range of acoustical flexibility that is uniquely appropriate for a hall in "Nashville Music City."
